'Machattuvela' also known as
'Machattu Mamangam', is celebrated with great pomp, pageantry and splendour on
the last day of the five-day annual festival at Machattu Thiruvanikavu Temple
near Vadakkancherry, Thrissur.

Devotees bring richly decorated
Kuthirakolams (motifs of horses) in ceremonial processions, as offering to the
deity.
The colorful procession is accompanied by tradition percussion instruments. The
festival falls in the Malayalam month of Kumbham, corresponding with the months
of February/March. |
