They
are two in number and have bowl shape, like Jai Prakash Yantra. The horizon of them is
having graduations from 0 degree to 90 degree and 90 degree to 180 degree and the various
names of the twelve zodiac signs are inscribed.
The Eastern Kapali is utilized
only for solving the astronomical problems graphically, while the Western Kapali is used
to find out the Azimuth, Altitude, Meridian Pass Time, declinition of sun, local time etc.
, with the help of the shadow of the circular ring and on the graduation of the Kapali.
